The design and build contract has gained favour across many large construction projects in recent years, largely thanks to its ability to enable faster, less costly delivery. This contract form is not without risk, however, due to the increase in number of parties involved in each project. With an increased number of project participants, Design-Build contracts require particular attention regarding the contractual clauses, ECI, payment issues, QA, and issues arising while work is progressing.
This presentation is a highlight extract from Dr. Fenster’s training programme Design-Build Contracts. It zooms in key issues during construction works such as licensing issues, insurance issues, liability and warranties and would help project managers, contract managers from both project owners and contractors to anticipate key problems and potential indemnity provisions.
- Stages of completion
- Delayed completion, liquidated damages and extensions of time
- Licensing issues
- Insurance issues including coverage, limits and responsibility to secure
- Liability for defects
